It is sad that there are what you might call professional Catholics who make a living on their Catholicism, but in whom the spring of faith flows only faintly, in a few scattered drops. We must really make an effort to change this.
— Pope Benedict XVI, Light of the World, 2010 (via twocrowns)

A Student’s Prayer — Good luck with finals!

Creator of all things, true source of light and wisdom, origin of all being, graciously let a ray of your light penetrate the darkness of my understanding.

Take from me the double darkness in which I have been born, an obscurity of sin and ignorance.

Give me a keen understanding, a retentive memory, and the ability to grasp things correctly and fundamentally.

Grant me the talent of being exact in my explanations and the ability to express myself with thoroughness and charm.

Point out the beginning, direct the progress, and help in the completion.

I ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Good luck with exams everyone!

The Roamin’ Catholic - Stories from abroad

That awkward moment when you think the English speaking mass is at 12:15, but find out they changed the mass times for the summer, so instead of 12:15, its 11am. And then the next mass at 12:30pm is in Spanish.

And the one at 6:00pm is in Czech.

So you go to the Spanish mass, because despite living in the Czech Republic for months, you understand Spanish (which you have never studied) better than Czech

signum-crucis:

Every act of reverence, every genuflection that you make before the Blessed Sacrament is important because it is an act of faith in Christ, and act of love for Christ. And every sign of the cross and gesture of respect made each time you pass a church is also an act of faith.—Pope John Paul II

Saint Agnes of Bohemia, (Czech: Svatá Anežka Česká), or Agnes of Prague (20 June 1211 - 2 March 1282[2]), was a medieval Bohemian princess who opted for a life of charity and piety over a life of luxury and comfort. Although she was venerated soon after her death, Agnes was not beatified or canonized for over 700 years.
